You only have to end Steam Client Bootstrapper in the task manager. Go to Steam library > steamapps > common > game that doesn't download. I Got the same error today and i learned how to fix it delete your game thats messing up then go to task manager stop everything that is involved with steam then restart your computer It's not my connection or some problem with my computer because Origin and other clients work fine. It's very frustrating to have to close Steam in order to get it to stop downloading in a timely manner, for example if I'm trying to process a Paypal transaction or read an email.ĭoes anyone have any experience with this problem? I've considered using Peerblock to just cut off Steam's connection and force it to stop, but I don't know how that might affect the downloads, I don't want to corrupt any files.

What aggravates the issue is that Steam will automatically begin downloading when it's launched. Steam maxes out my connection so if Steam is downloading nobody else can browse or use the internet.
